Pottery workshops

Workshops are two day practice based courses at my studio at Wheeler’s Yard, Colyton, Devon. These courses are aimed at beginners who would like to learn the basics of throwing skills  and improvers. I also teach hand-building techniques that include coiling, pinch methods and slab building, which include some decorative techniques such as slip decoration and incised and scrafitto decoration.

The courses cover: Clay preparation – wedging techniques, centering clay on the wheel, throwing basic cylinders on the first day and moving onto a Mug, Bowl or Jug on the second day.

The workshop includes one to one tuition in a small group and demonstrations of techniques,  tailored to meet learning needs so that every student has a positive and unique experience which builds their skills with clay.

I wanted to say thank you for your inspiring course. The experiential style of instruction suited me and I felt that we were enabled to make significant progress. To finish with more than one pot is such an achievement.  It was so peaceful in your lovely workshop, thank you for hosting so nicely. Zoe.

Just dropping you a line to thank you for a great 2 days at the wheel. We both felt we gained a huge amount of practice, and are pleased with the items we managed to throw. Jason.
